Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas! Of course everyone relates December with the holidays. My family is starting a new holiday tradition this year. Since there are about 13 people in my family, we have decided to do secret Santa. If you don't know what this is, here's the gist: Everyone's name is written on a piece of paper and put into a hat. Each person draws a name from a hat and gets that person one gift.

This month, I asked some of my sponsors and friends:
What is your favorite holiday tradition or activity?

Angel Inspired

I was motivated to create more animal designs by Angel of Artsy Angel. I've been getting a lot of great feedback about my owl pendant, and she suggested I work on some cute little creatures like deer, foxes, raccoon, and bears - some of which I recently blogged about here. I am very thankful for Angel's creative idea. Check out some of her original art prints:

Kaayli Nail Finish & Giveaway

Peacock blue Nail Polish
I am happy to share with you an awesome Etsy shop, Kaayli Nail Finish, who specializes in mini nail polishes! There are tons of fun colors and shades. Some of my favorites are Purple Smoke, Sorbet pink, Peacock blue, Beachy, Bordeaux burgundy, and Diamond Dust! There are also a bunch of lovely holiday shades such as Crimsimmion red, Christmas Green, Midnight Sparkle, and Chocolaty Velvet.

I was lucky enough to actually try out a few polishes too! I tried the Sorbet pink and the Beachy yellow. I absolutely love the shimmery effect both of these colors had on my nails. The Sorbet was my favorite because it gave a subtle touch of light and pink color. The Beachy was beautiful too - when the sun hit my nails, I could see hints of many shimmering colors. One of the best features these polishes had was that there was no strong odor; they actually had a nice some-what faint fruity aroma. I also loved that they dried quickly after applying.

Beachy & Sorbet Nail Polishes
I got to know the owner behind these cute little polishes, Rebekah. She currently makes her polishes in San Diego, California, and loves everything creative. "I am motivated to create because it is what I love. I also love making something that has a positive impact on someone else."

Kaayli Nail Finish sells their polishes in mini bottles. You can buy them as singles, in duos, trios, or quadruples. There are several multi-polish sets ready for sale, like the "Sunset Mini Nail Polish Trio," which contains the Beachy, Crimsimmion, and Pure Gold polishes. Customers also have the option of creating their own custom multi-polish set.

Sunset Mini Nail Polish Trio
The mini bottles are perfect for collecting a lot of unique colors without spending a lot. Rebekah explains, "I don't think I have ever used an entire bottle of nail polish except for clear! I collect a variety of colors and I want a new one for each occasion, each special outfit, each holiday, each season, my different moods, etc... I may only use a color 2-3 times before I move on to a new one." She loves to create bold, unique colors that "shimmer, sparkle and pop against my skin," which they definitely do!

Kaayli Nail Finish is offering my special readers some awesome deals: 10% off orders now until Dec. 31, 2013. Use coupon code PA10OFF at checkout. Plus a giveaway! Win a $10.00 gift certificate from Kaayli Nail Finish! Use rafflecopter below to enter. Giveaway starts Monday, Dec. 9th and runs through Monday, Dec. 16th.

CraftFields

I happened upon rather unique jewelry, and a very modern looking Etsy shop the other day. CraftFields carries modern jewelry including necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. They specialize in using unique and unconventional materials such as plexiglass, rubber, wood, and clay for their jewelry.

Alcohol Molecular Formula Necklace
Sisters Kavina and Rara, own and make all the creations in CraftFields. Their need to open their shop was to extend their passion of jewelry making to the world outside their home in Bulgaria. The sisters opened their shop in August 2010. They work hard to keep their items interesting and eye-catching. "All jewelry designs in our shop are one of a kind, which means that you will not see somebody else with the same earrings or bracelet."

Silicon Rubber Earrings
Kavina and Rara love to use strange materials for their jewelry. They use laser cut plexiglass with items such as their "Hipster Glasses Frame Necklace" and "Alcohol Molecular Formula Necklace" (see photo above). Their wooden bracelets and ceramic pendant necklace are unique as well. My favorite items, however, are the rubber earrings, made of multi-color silicon (see left photo). I asked CraftFields what inspires them to create such funky jewelry, and their response made me smile. Not only do the shapes and the colors motivate them to create, but as well as "the people...the idea that with every design, we give a little part of ourselves to the world."

Be on the lookout for a giveaway coming soon to CraftFields' fans. It will be announced on their blog sometime in December. You can also find more updates and photos from CraftFields across the web on Facebook, Flickr, and Pinterest.

Jewelry Wanderlust

Sterling Silver, Garnet & Marcasite Necklace
I recently encountered an Etsy shop with amazingly beautiful pieces. I stopped to take a look. My eyes met extravagant jewelry of many styles: antique Victorian, art nouveau, vintage Navajo, costume jewelry and much more. The shop displayed an array of items donning sterling silver, golds, precious stones & gems of all kinds. Jewelry Wanderlust specializes in unique, vintage jewelry from many historical eras, and from cultures all over the world. The shop carries an assortment of rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches, men's fashion, pendants, earrings, pins, and several fashion accessories.

14k Gold Butterfly Locket
The shop is unique for having its items around for a long period of time, since the 1800s. The owner of Jewelry Wanderlust, Chelsea, is now the 5th generation in her family to work in the jewelry business. Her great great grandfather started back in 1880. Chelsea has always had an eye for beauty. She loves "to make people happy by finding the perfect piece of jewelry for them or a loved one because often times jewelry can be sentimental or nostalgic."

I had a chance to get to know more about Chelsea's shop. She explains her work beautifully, "each piece of jewelry has the art style of its time encapsulated in it like a piece of history with a story to tell." Jewelry Wanderlust opened recently in August 2013, but the owner's experience has lasted her whole life growing up in the antique jewelry business. Finding her customers the perfect piece is her ultimate satisfaction. Helping them find fine craftsmanship and historical preservation in the jewelry motivates Chelsea. Today, Jewelry Wanderlust is "one of the largest Antique and Vintage jewelry collections in all of California", and it is now available to everyone through Etsy.
Art Nouveau Gold Filled Heart Locket

There is remarkable variety throughout this shop, not only in eras and culture, but also in price. You can find highly competitive prices as well as highly reduced ones on quality pieces. Chelsea explains, "our pieces are unique and one-of-a-kind and we not only strive to have a large variety of different pieces of jewelry, but we also strive for all different price ranges starting at $29.00 and up." Be sure to check out Jewelry Wanderlust on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Recipe Card Download

Pink and White Recipe Cards

I've been working on a few free downloads for my readers. I created this recipe card download. To make it, I incorporated my hand drawn signature floral designs with the help of picmonkey and gimp image program. I love to cook, and I'd love for you to share your recipe too! Please feel free to use these for your personal projects; click the link below to download. When printing, I found it best to print on cardstock paper - I used white & pink cardstock paper in the image above.

GrainDEEP

Strolling through Etsy, I recently came across a very unique shop. My eyes met an array of wooden designs, with what looked liked carved intricate patterns. I immediately had to know more about this shop. GrainDEEP specializes in laser engraved wood and suede products. They create custom tags, gift tags, coasters, and bookmarks for businesses, weddings, crafters and artists.

Owners and creators, Sonya and Isac, explain that their great attention to detail is what makes their
products unique...and I couldn't agree more! "We want to provide our customers with a high level of customer service for when they are looking for something extra special." Before they begin an order, they make a design proof of the best representation for their custom orders. The creators strive to set a high standard of quality in their products, so their customers will have faith in the process of their finished product.

Sonya and Isac both have experience in design and architecture. "We had always discussed starting something of our own and using Sonya's design skills and Isac's technical skills and meshing them together in some way." Sonya had previously had her own etsy shop, TEXtureMIX, but the two decided to venture into their own collaboration. It wasn't until six months ago, they realized they wanted to open their shop. Isac came up with the shop name, GrainDEEP. He combined two simple words to describe their work. Grain: every material is made up of grain & Deep: they are literally engraving into the materials used. After ten years of being a couple, the two, now, work together to create spectacular home and wedding decor items, and customized items for business and personal needs.

Working together is what motivates this duo. Both Sonya and Isac help each other in the abilities where they lack. "Where Sonya lacks on a technical basis, Isac excels as well as where Isac sometimes lacks design wise Sonya excels." The two each recognize their strengths, and feed off of each other's energy and ideas to come up with their finished work.

GrainDEEP offers their customers three gradients of wood to choose from: light maple, medium cherry, and dark walnut. Their ultrasuede selection allows you to choose from a ton of colors, as well. Don't miss updates from GrainDEEP on twitter and facebook!

Gardens of the Sun

With a name like Gardens of the Sun, you'd expect the most beautiful earthly substances. And that's just what you'll find in this Etsy shop. Gardens of the Sun specializes in handmade gemstone jewelry from Indonesia. The shop includes earrings, bangles & bracelets, and necklaces draped with raw gemstones, gold, pearls, diamonds, silver, sapphire, tourmaline, leather, and more!

What fascinates me most about Gardens of the Sun is combining precious commodities with such an earthy style. It brings nature back into jewelry, so to speak. Their gemstones are raw, their aquamarines and pearls are reminiscent of the ocean, and their moonstones and natural lava give a celestial feel.

Owner and designer, Meri, loves to use diamonds, colorful gemstones and pearls. "I have decided to focus on raw diamond and rough gemstone jewelry... as I adore their imperfections." She spends much of her time selecting the perfect, or perhaps imperfect, rocks and stones. She specifically looks for "color shifting gemstones and clear rocks with inclusions." Meri lives in Indonesia where she works on sustainability issues in the tropical forestry sector, and loves to make her own cheese, yogurt, and sugar scrubs!

Meri loves creating and exploring. Her shop name, Gardens of the Sun, "comes from an old journal about Borneo island written by an explorer from the 19th century."
She began making jewelry in school, while studying tropical forestry. While doing fieldwork, Meri bought "amazing gemstones" and freshwater pearls in different Indonesian regions. The designer keeps sustainability as her work's primary concern. She follows proper non-subsidizing mining procedures, uses recycled packaging, and creates "dyed banana leafs for wrapping gifts." Neat!

Gardens of the Sun's jewelry is high quality and very durable. Meri has been known to let her one year old daughter play with it, to test the jewelry. There are tons of great items in the shop at all price ranges. In early November, you will begin to see one of a kind rough gemstone jewelry in sterling silver at Gardens of the Sun on Etsy. Find more about the shop on Wanelo & Twitter. And just for my special readers use these coupon codes when shopping: FREESHIPPING for free shipping on orders over $50.00 -or- PUELLA10 for a 10% discount (valid November 1 - December 31, 2013)!

Sweet Home Boutique

Sweet Home Boutique is an adorable clothing shop on Etsy. It specializes in women's and children's attire. You'll find fun retro dresses, tunics, skirts, children's unitards and rompers, crochet hats, assorted accessories and home decor. The style of the clothing is almost country-chic with a modern flair. The most precious feature this shop has is its Family Matching section donning matching clothing sets for the family!

It's no wonder, this shop is family oriented. Being a homeschooling mother of five, owner and designer, Rachel Sample, makes time to create clothing for her family and her shop. She gets her ideas from her own intuition and personal style. Perhaps Rachel's experiences has led her to design her unique items. She has been selling on Etsy for three years. When she began, Rachel lived in Hawaii, teaching herself to sew items for herself and her children.

Rachel loves devoting time to her clothing, primarily because of her children. She loves to create new clothes for her kids. "Every piece in my shop, except for custom orders, are owned and worn by myself and my children." As a military wife, Rachel has to occasionally close her shop between moves and to spend time with her five children.

All the profit made from Sweet Home Boutique is invested back into materials for new items. Check out Sweet Home Boutique across the web on FacebookTwitterBlogspotPinterest, and Wanelo!

Truly Glamorous Designs

I absolutely love these designs and want to share them with my readers. Zoharous is a wonderful Etsy shop that carries glamorous, custom made clothing. All items are tailored to fit, and possess funky-chic styled patterns. The shop contains primarily dresses and skirts, but also has trousers, shorts, and assorted tops.

The funky fabrics of the clothing are actually inspired by a blend of African heritage with modern fashion trends. Owner and designer, Belinda Compah-Keyeke, is a self-taught fashion designer from Ghana. Her fashion career began in junior high school where she began sketching clothing designs. She soon began to sew and modify clothing she owned. Belinda has been designing and sewing ever since, and recently opened her shop in August 2012.

Zoharous strives to make her clients glamorous. The name itself literally epitomizes glamour. Belinda explains, "I found the word zohar" which is Hebrew for glamour, and she simply added 'ous' to complete her glamorous name! Her products are exactly that. They have unique patterns and textiles. "I love to use lots of colour and print. I love to dress fun, happy people who want to feel and love what they wear."

What's also unique is that Belinda will customize any clothing you want. Her shop offers customers "a chance to choose a different fabric from what they see in the store front," meaning if you see a skirt print you'd like on a top, she will custom design your order! The collaboration of the creation process makes that article of clothing much more special than any 'off the rack' item.

Aside from her clothing line, Belinda also writes for a news blog, a fashion and lifestyle blog, and is soon to pursue Med school in China. To know more about Zoharous, visit PinterestInstagramTwitter, and Facebook. And don't forget to take advantage of Zoharous special offers: Use coupon code FREESHIPPING for free shipping on orders $90 or more -or- use coupon code OFF15 for a 15% discount.

"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. Art of Jewelry

I came across a lovely little shop, My Art Game, on Etsy. The shop specializes in unique, sophisticated, handmade jewelry. The shop carries bracelets, necklaces, anklets, and earrings. All of which are reminiscent of a natural, bohemian style with their earth-toned colors and textured designs.

The jewelry's earthy designs comes from owner and creator, Katerina. While living in Greece, Katerina is inspired by nature, art, and fashion trends. "Creating is a way of living for me. It
helps me express my feelings and always gets all my problems out of my mind." She grew up creating artwork, and recently discovered her passion to make jewelry.

My Art Game opened only a few months ago, but the potential it has is enormous. Her style is very unique. Katerina uses all kinds of materials. She uses glass beads, crystals, pearls, cotton, leather, rope, fabric, and wire, to name a few. Her rope necklaces are like nothing I've ever seen before. All her life, Katerina has been creating, and she finally gets to share her artwork across the world. My Art Game is "the bridge that helps me connect with other people... it is so touching for me to know that somebody is giving life to something that I created with so much love and devotion." Be sure to like My Art Game on Facebook and follow the shop on Pinterest.

Rustic Ridge Creations

I recently won a giveaway (whoo!) from the Etsy shop, Rustic Ridge Creations! I won a gift credit to the shop, and chose an almond sugar scrub, a box of lemon balm tea, and natural insect repellent as my prize. I loved the items I received so much, I had to share this shop with you guys.

Exfoliating Sugar Scrub
Rustic Ridge Creations specializes in high quality therapeutic bath and body products, for a healthy lifestyle. Some of their products include candles, bath salts, lotions, scrubs, soaps, and herbal tinctures and teas. These handmade items are paraben free, and made with natural ingredients and pure essential oils.

I am extremely happy with my winnings. The Exfoliating Sugar Scrub is made with sugar crystals to refine and soften skin. I use it once a week to exfoliate. After washing it off I can feel how well it hydrates my skin. I absolutely love the almond scent, as well. The lemon balm herbal tea is great for relaxing. It has a sweet aroma, and is great with honey. The tea is made with lemon balm & peppermint leaves. Lemon balm is an herb from the mint family, and it's used to improve digestion and relieve headaches. The natural insect repellent is made of beeswax, shea butter, and essential oils. It is safe for children and pets, and comes in a spray or stick. I especially love it for my feet and ankles. It is an easy to apply, roll on stick. The repellent also has a pleasant scent, because it is completely chemical free!

Soy Candle
The owner behind these lovely creations is Kimberly. She is a certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Master Herbalist. Her dream began by making soy candles as gifts, and soon blossomed into the many products she offers today. Kimberly loves experimenting in her kitchen with different scents for candles, and humorously calls herself a "mad scientist."

Rustic Ridge Creations' products are healthy for your skin and for the environment. Kimberly is motivated through her client's positive outcome, helping them "ease their suffering" through work on her products. She is extremely grateful to all her customers and for her repeat customers as well. Check out Rustic Ridge Creations on Facebook, Twitter, and her shop for coupons and specials.
